Mikhuna is a contemporary Nikkei restaurant bringing the vibrant flavors of Peru to the Rio Grande Valley.

Our cuisine blends indigenous Peruvian ingredients with Japanese techniques, resulting in dishes that are bold, balanced, and deeply rooted in tradition while embracing modern expression.

Inspired by the streets of Lima and the elegance of Nikkei cuisine, our menu features ceviches, sushi, and innovative plates that reflect both heritage and evolution.

At Mikhuna, exploration and curiosity guide everything we do. While many of our dishes pay homage to Nikkei’s rich heritage, we believe Peruvian cuisine is, at its core, a celebration of collaboration, innovation, and community.

Led by Chef Carlos Enríquez

Carlos Enríquez is a celebrated chef with over 14 years of experience in the culinary world. Born in Lima, Peru, and raised in Miami, he grew up surrounded by the energy of a city where Latin culture and seafood reign supreme. This vibrant setting shaped his palate and ignited a passion for cuisine that would guide his path.


Throughout his career, Carlos has worked in some of the most acclaimed and relevant restaurants in Miami. His talent and drive led him to become part of the teams of world-renowned icons in Peruvian gastronomy, including Gastón Acurio, Juan Chipoco, and others. But it was Diego Muñoz who truly became his mentor and elevated his craft. “Diego is a mentor,” Carlos shares. “His depth of experience helps you understand the real essence behind this profession.”


At the heart of his culinary journey lies a deeper inspiration — his grandmother. “The love I have for cooking comes from my abuela, Mamá Delia,” he says. “She taught me that food is not just about flavor — it’s about love, history, and legacy.”
